Project Title: Empowering Rohingya Refugee and Host Community Women through Leadership, Learning and Livelihoods Project (EWLLLP).

Project Summary/Major activities:

Support women groups to organize 76 sensitization sessions on gender, protection, GBV, menstrual management, health, reproductive health, etc., GBV counseling/referral services and livelihood activities.Provide leadership training to Host women and girls with focus onnewandexistingwomen’sgroupsandotherwomenaccessingthecenter-1group.

Support new and existing men group and male youth groups through meetings and forums on positive masculinities, GBV, early marriage, women‘s leadership and participation in community decision-making processes-group.Advocacy at different level to promote women leadership-01 event.CBV incentives – Host MPWC-07 CBV for 11 months.Organize meeting/gatherings /events for women/men especially leaders from Rohingya and host to come together-1 event.Identify   and develop livelihoods related trainings for host community women and girls (Kitchen gardens, small scale business, dried fish production, business planning etc)-200 participants. Deliver livelihoods skills training to Host Community women and adolescent girls-03 days training-200 participants.Develop a join socio-economic development plan to promote host community women and girls opportunities – 03 workshops Provide tools, grants or seed funds for host community women to start income generations activities and cash for work options-200 participants.Support host community women and female youth groups to run women-led shops (20 women and youth groups-03shops).

Project Title: ASTHA (Strengthening Access to Multi-Sectoral Public Services for GBV Survivors in Bangladesh).

Project Summary:

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a human rights violence and a development concern for Bangladesh. In response to the high prevalence rate of GBV, the Government of Bangladesh, along with other actors in the development sector, is working to combat this scourge and safeguard women’s rights. In order to address the GBV situation, Ain O Salish Kendra and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) has been implementing the ASTHA project (Strengthening multi sectoral public services for GBV survivors in Bangladesh) since April 2018 with Mukti Cox’s bazar. The project aims to achieve two outcomes. Firstly, to increase access to multi sectoral public services for the survivors of GBV, and secondly, to increase positive attitude amongst community members about harmful gender norms and behaviors that perpetuate violence.

  • Project Goal: Advance gender equality, women’s and girls’ empowerment and reproductive right, including for the most Vulnerable and marginalized women, adolescents and youth.
  • Objectives: Gender Based Violence in Emergency (GBViE) Project aims to Save the Life’s and Dignity of the women and girls from Rohingya communities and host community as well.
  • Project Summary:

Project is targeting Rohingya refugee and host communities in the affected areas of Ukhiya and Teknaf to ensure lifesaving GBV services and prevention activities to mitigate the GBV. This project has started from 2017 before the influx. The interventions will ensure the survivors centered approach to offer comprehensive GBV case management services, integrated SRH-GBV services, GBV prevention activities, PSS group activities, individual PSS support, MHPSS support for GBV survivors and women and girls at risk. Adolescent specific curriculum will be implemented to build life skill of the adolescent girls. GBV prevention messages, activities, lifesaving information, referral services to other service points for GBV and Non GBV survivors. This project will have a focus on developing community-based protection groups, empowering community to provide a safe community for their women and girls. The project will target to include high risk populations and marginalized groups into all the activities of GBV prevention and response.
